MikroTik hAP ac² vs Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X (ER-X)
One still ships a genuine static default after all these years; the other stopped defaulting to a password at all.

What actually differs
This is the sharpest contrast in ssid's prosumer/self-hoster set. The EdgeRouter X (ER-X) ships a real, working static default — username ubnt, password ubnt — at 192.168.1.1, per Ubiquiti's own Quick Start Guide, and EdgeOS does not force a change during first login.
The MikroTik hAP ac² takes the opposite approach: the account is admin, but per MikroTik's official hAP ac² manual most units ship with no password on that account at all — blank, not a real "default" to type. Later production batches print a unique password on the case sticker instead, and RouterOS v7 refuses to continue until you set one. Different gateway IPs too: MikroTik's classic 192.168.88.1 vs. Ubiquiti's 192.168.1.1.
Keep RESET pressed while the unit powers up, and let go once the green LED begins flashing. RouterOS drops back to its factory configuration.
With the router fully booted, press and hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds until the eth4 LED flashes then goes solid; release and it auto-reboots to defaults. Connect to eth0, browse to https://192.168.1.1, enter ubnt/ubnt, and accept the licence agreement.
