The official Linksys user guide documents a genuine universal default: leave the username blank and use admin as the password. This is one of the few classic models with a true factory default (not admin/admin) — Linksys recommends changing it immediately from Administration > Management.
Factory reset
Open a browser and go to http://192.168.1.1. When the login box appears, leave the User Name blank and enter admin as the password (lowercase). To factory reset, press and hold the Reset button on the back with a paperclip for about 15 seconds until the front lights flash, then release and wait for the router to reboot; the login returns to blank username / admin password.
