Xfinity (Comcast) xFi Gateway XB8 (CGM4981COM)

Default access and factory-reset steps, cited to the manufacturer.

For regaining access to a router you own or administer. If you didn't set it up, ask whoever did.

The password is unique to your unit and printed on a sticker on the router (often labelled Password or Access Key).

No admin/admin or admin/password default on the XB8. The label carries a unique admin password, and web admin access often has to be toggled on from the Xfinity app first because WiFi Intelligence locks the local tool.

Factory reset

Browse to http://10.0.0.1 and sign in with username 'admin'. If the page won't load, enable it first in the Xfinity app: WiFi > View WiFi equipment > Advanced Settings > Admin Tool online access > ON. The default Admin Tool password is the unique string on the label on the bottom of the XB8 (not 'password'). Factory reset: hold the recessed Reset pinhole on the rear ~30 seconds until it reboots; log back in with the label credentials.
