The password is unique to your unit and printed on a sticker on the router (often labelled Password or Access Key).

AT&T's 2Wire/Pace/BGW/NVG gateways do not use admin/admin — each unit has a unique Device Access Code printed on a sticker on the gateway. AT&T's official support confirms the code lives on the device label and is reset to that label value by a factory reset.

Factory reset

Open a browser to http://192.168.1.254 to reach the Gateway User Interface. When asked for a Device Access Code, enter the code printed on the sticker on the side or bottom of the gateway. To reset, press and hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds until the gateway restarts; the access code reverts to the one on the label.
