You create this password the first time you set up the router. If you never changed it, factory-reset and set a new one.

Modern Nighthawk firmware makes you set your own admin password on first setup — there is no admin/admin or admin/password that works out of the box. Netgear's legacy default (admin / password) only applies to older models.

Factory reset

This tri-band Nighthawk forces you to create an admin password (and security questions) during first-time setup, so there is no working factory login to recover. To start clean, power the router on, find the recessed Reset button on the back, and press and hold it with a paperclip for about 7 seconds until the Power LED blinks. After it reboots, browse to http://routerlogin.net (or 192.168.1.1) and the setup wizard walks you through creating a new admin password.
